Driver Qualification File Setup & Maintenance
The Driver Qualification File (DQF) is one of the most critical compliance documents a motor carrier must maintain. FMCSA regulations require carriers to keep a complete and current DQF for every commercial driver. Incomplete or missing files are among the most common violations found during DOT audits.
Texas DOT Compliance Group will set up and maintain your driver qualification files to ensure full compliance with 49 CFR Part 391 requirements. We work with both new carriers establishing their programs and existing carriers who need to bring their files into compliance.
Required DQF Documents
- Driver application for employment
- Motor vehicle record (MVR) — at time of hire and annually
- Road test certificate or equivalent
- Medical examiner's certificate (DOT physical)
- Annual review of driving record
- Annual driver's certification of violations
- Previous employer safety performance history
- Drug and alcohol pre-employment testing documentation
- CDL verification and endorsement review
- Entry-level driver training (ELDT) documentation where required
